Class ten is a crucial stage in a student’s life as it is after the board exams one needs to make a decision about their future career path. To do this one has to consider certain things and ask themselves the following questions to be able to choose what’s best for them:
1. What are you best at or what attracts your interests the most?
2. What are the career opportunities in the answer of the first question?
The answers to these two questions will land you at the best you can choose. In this article we are providing you all the options available for you to choose from, so that you won’t be ignorant anymore to blame yourself not to know your favorite field to go with.
There are four main education boards available in India. Students may choose a stream that suits them best. The choice shall be made on the basis of difficulty level associated with the boards and aptitude of the student. The boards available are
CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education)
ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education)
IB (International Baccalaureate)
State Boards
IB is the toughest board among the above-mentioned entries. It focuses on the concept of ‘how to learn’. Much emphasis is laid on the ‘application of knowledge’ and ‘practical aspects’ of learning.
IB board is followed by the ICSE board when it comes to the difficulty level. Then there is the CBSE board. Most of you are knowledgeable about this board. It functions under the Union Government of India. The difficulty level associated with this board is moderate. Generally, most of the people choose science as their stream after 10th which gives productive options. In Andhra Pradesh, the intermediate education, also known as Higher Secondary Classes (HSC), is a 2 year course conducted by Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education. The board currently offers 85 streams and courses.
BIEAP offers general and vocational groups. General groups include Science, Arts/Humanities and Commerce. In these groups both theory and practice are provided, that help them to choose and pursue higher studies. Let us explore them one at a time…

Science

 
 

Intermediate:

MPC consists of math, physics, and chemistry. BIPC consists of biology, zoology, physics, and chemistry. There is another course named ‘MBIPC’ which is the combination of MPC and BIPC. This course duration is 2 years. These people need to write exams like EAMCET which is used in Andhra Pradesh for a bachelor’s degree. Each state has its own exams. But if you go for national then you need to write JEE for MPC whereas NEET for BIPC. MBIPC students can choose either one of them.

Polytechnic:

You need to write POLYCET to get a free seat in the polytechnic colleges. The diploma course duration is three years. This course contains science
subjects along with some engineering subjects which include basics for further engineering studies.

ITI Courses

ITI is termed as INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE which gives training in the field of
industry. After completion of the tenth, if a student wants to get a job in short term orientation then that student can choose these institutions. The courses can be technical as well as non-technical according to preferences. ITI courses train students in performing a certain task which helps them to get a job at the end of the course. Technical courses offered are such as Electrician engineering, Diesel mechanic engineering, mechanic motor vehicle engineering and so on. Non-technical courses like dressmaking, manufacture footwear, hair & skincare, etc are also offered.

IIIT

 
IIIT stands for Indian Institute of Information Technology. The main focus of these institutes
is on courses related to Information Technology. Ministry of Human Resource Development funds and manages these institutes. There will be no entrance examination and admission will be strictly based on student performance in the SSC or other equivalent Board Examinations such as CBSE, ICSE, Oriental SSC and NOS.

Commerce

Are you that one student in the class who reads ‘The Economic Times’ daily? Maybe you even subscribe to magazines like ‘Entrepreneur’, and you secretly keep a track of what’s going up in the stock market. Or, you find yourself really interested when family conversations center on topics like these.
If this is so, you will have a gala time if you take up Commerce as a stream. You have the qualities of an entrepreneur in you.
Must Have Skills for Career in Commerce after Class 10
·        A student planning to take up Commerce should have an analytical bent of mind
·        They should be money minded (and we mean it in a nice way)
·        They must have good communication skills
·        They must be good with negotiations
·        May be some of you have good bargaining skills, and that’s a plus
·        They must have an aptitude for numbers
·        They must be keenly interested in brands and business trends
·        And leadership skills should have been at the top of the list but even then we couldn’t have stressed it enough.
If this describes you, then by all means, Commerce is just the right stream for you.

Most Common Career Options after 10th in Commerce Stream

There is no such thing as limited career options, and even if there was, that definitely does not apply to a student who takes up Commerce after Class 10. Given below is a list of courses after 10th in Commerce stream for your reference.

·        Company Secretary (CS)

Arts

Are you plagued by creativity? On some days, you may find it knocking vehemently at your ribs till you vent it out. Now, the questions is, what should a student like you take up as a stream after Class 10? If Science is not your cup of tea, and Commerce is too dull for you, you should seriously consider
Humanities/Arts.
A lot of people may have a lot of opinion about Humanities/Arts as a stream. Let’s keep them aside for the time being. Sure your parents, relatives, friends, teachers, and other well-wishers were trying to help! But this is your life, so the choices you make should also begin with YOU. So, probe yourself!
ü  A student planning to take up Humanities/Arts should have a creative bent of mind
ü  They should be receptive to new thoughts, ideas and perspectives
ü  They should have a seeking spirit
ü  A source of good, healthy imagination is always a plus
ü  They must be willing to develop their communication skills
ü  They should be dedicated to their subjects, and have a knack for theoretical learning If this describes you, then by all means, Humanities/Arts is just the right stream for you.

There is no such thing as limited career options, and even if there was, that definitely does not apply to a student who takes up Humanities/Arts after Class 10.

Vocational groups

Vocational groups are meant to educate students and train skills related to their branch of study. It will help them to get immediate self-employment or pursue higher studies. These are offered along with curriculum in colleges.
 
 
 

Certification courses

 If you don’t want to choose technical stream but you want to try new skills along with certification which upgrades your
career then you can take up these courses such as Graphic designing course, Multimedia, Interior designing, Photography, Photoshop, Software programming etc.
These courses’ duration range from just a few days to few years. As an example, the certification course on C language can be completed within 45 days.
Keep the options aside for time being. Also, keep aside the 100,000 different options you’ve got from parents, relatives, friends, teachers, and other well-wishers and even us.
