Arjun’s words surprised Manikyam, who didn’t hesitate to ask, “Do you live with TMD here? What’s his real name? What does he look like? Do you have any pictures of him?” With that, Manikyam began searching the flat eagerly.

“Wow! Hold on a sec! Do you want me to answer or what? ” exclaimed Arjun, smiling at him.

“Sorry! He’s just so famous that I can’t help but ask about him,” said Manikyam, feeling apologetic.

“Yeah, I can understand that. He doesn’t live with me here, but we do talk every day,” continued Arjun, with a hint of disappointment. “I still don’t know his name, but I get to see him every day when we video call,” he added, with excitement.

“So, you see him every day! Then tell me, what does he look like?” asked Manikyam eagerly.

Arjun noticed Manikyam’s face lit up like a thousand candles with excitement, so he decided to keep it a surprise. “Why rush? You’ll see him tonight,” he replied with a smile.

Manikyam looked at Arjun with a puzzled expression and asked, “So, you’re not TMD’s real brother?”

“Nope! He just picked me up on the street like he did with you today. But he’s really fond of me, you know. He always says I’m just like him and wishes I were his true brother,” Arjun replied, feeling quite pleased.

“That’s really nice of him, and you’re lucky to have such a brother,” Arjun nodded in agreement. Manikyam continued, “What’s your story, then? Where did he find you, and how did you end up here? Sorry for all the questions again,” he said, smiling at Arjun.

Arjun remembered his brother’s advice and said, “My brother already warned me not to talk too much and to let you rest first. So, I think it would be best if we stop our chit-chat for now, and you go to bed.”

“I don’t think I can sleep with all the excitement. I am really eager to meet him.” Manikyam stated and continued saying, “I am comfortable, don’t worry about me.”

“Alright, tell me, why were you so sad and crying all alone in the rain? Did someone hurt you?” asked Arjun, his tone filled with genuine concern.

“So you were the one who called me at first!” exclaimed Manikyam.

“Yes! I was just enjoying nature and happened to notice you crying which is very anti to the present situation. We must enjoy the rain and nature but you were odd and my eye caught it.” explained Arjun.

Manikyam, remembering his earlier assumption that the person who called him could come to his aid instead of calling, and seeing Arjun in a wheelchair who did the best he can, admitted, “What a fool I’ve been! I’m truly sorry, my son.”

“That’s okay! But what are you sorry for?” asked Arjun, unaware of the reason for Manikyam’s apology.

Manikyam explained to Arjun how he had jumped to conclusions instead of understanding the situation fully. Arjun reassured him, “There’s no mistake on your part. You were unaware of my situation, and pain can narrow our thinking. So, there’s no need to apologize.” He smiled warmly at Manikyam.

Listening to Arjun’s words, Manikyam’s heart flooded with happiness. Overwhelmed by his emotions and unsure of how to express them, he eagerly went to Arjun and gave him a tight hug.

Feeling the warmth of the hug, Arjun gently said, “Grandpa, calm down. It’s time for you to take some rest.”

Upon hearing the word “Grandpa!” Manikyam remembered it was the same voice he heard on the phone call from TMD. However, he wasn’t confident enough to confront Arjun, so he simply replied, “Yes, son! Maybe I do need to rest for some time.”

Arjun turning his wheelchair to the right with his hands gestured Manikyam to follow to the bedroom. When they were about to enter Arjun’s bedroom Manikyam was surprised to see a wall stacked full of papers up to three feet high beside the bed and there were many books at the side of the bed followed by a huge system setup displaying the website “The Society of The Man in Dark”.

Arjun took a left  as soon as he entered the room. Entire room was very calm. There was a drawing board on the corner which was closed with a green cloth and a huge window which comes right side to the bed from where the bus stop is clearly visible. Not only the bus stop but the entire street was visible.

When he turns to the bed Manikyam finds a huge space on his right in which another bedroom can be accommodated. And the entire wall was covered with full screen with the projector to the ceiling and there was a tea table in the middle of that space. There was a chess board on the tea table which was half played. 

On seeing whatever there was in the room his mind was totally confused and without his knowledge his foot went to the bedside and he automatically laid on the bed. His thoughts were roaming everywhere in the flat gathering every detail to bring some clarity. 

Manikyam giving a thought to himself Is Arjun the Man in the Dark?. questioning himself “What is his age? What is doing? Why does this room not seem like a room of a kid? Why is the chess board half played? Does someone live with him here? If he is alone how is he managing his needs? ”

With all those questions swirling in his mind, he didn’t even utter a word to Arjun but drifted to sleep from thoughts.

అర్జున్ మాటలకి ఆశ్చర్య పోయిన మాణిక్యం, “మీరు ఇక్కడ టిఎమ్‌డితో నివసిస్తున్నారా? అతని అసలు పేరు ఏమిటి? అతను ఎలా ఉన్నాడు? అతని చిత్రాలు ఏమైనా ఉన్నాయా?” అని అడుగుతూ ఆ ఇంట్లో వెతకడం మొదలుపెట్టాడు.

“బాబోయ్ ! ఒక్క క్షణం ఆగు! నేను సమాధానం చెప్పాలనుకుంటున్నారా లేదా ఏమిటి? ” అని నవ్వుతు ఆశ్చర్యపోయాడు అర్జునుడు.

“క్షమించు ! అతను చాలా ఫేమస్ కాబట్టి నేను అతని గురించి అడగకుండా ఉండలేకపోయాను ,” అన్నాడు మాణిక్యం.

“అవును, నేను దానిని అర్థం చేసుకోగలను. అతను నాతో ఇక్కడ నివసించడు, కానీ మేము ప్రతిరోజూ మాట్లాడుతాము,” అర్జున్ నిరాశ సూచనతో కొనసాగించాడు. “నాకు ఇప్పటికీ అతని పేరు తెలియదు, కానీ మేము ప్రతిరోజూ వీడియో కాల్ చేసినప్పుడు నేను అతనిని చూస్తాను,” అని అతను ఉత్సాహంగా చెప్పాడు.

“అయితే , మీరు అతన్ని ప్రతిరోజూ చూస్తారా ! అప్పుడు చెప్పండి, అతను చూడటానికి ఎలా ఉంటాడు ?” ఆత్రంగా అడిగాడు మాణిక్యం.

సంతోషంతో మాణిక్యం ముఖం వెయ్యి కొవ్వొత్తులలా వెలిగిపోవడాన్ని గమనించిన అర్జున్, దానిని అతనికి ఒక ఆశ్చర్యంగా ఉంచాలని నిర్ణయించుకున్నాడు. “ఎందుకు తొందర ? ఈ రాత్రికి అతన్ని మీరుకూడా చూస్తారుగా ” నవ్వుతూ బదులిచ్చాడు.

మాణిక్యం అర్జునుని అయోమయ భావంతో చూస్తూ, “అయితే , మీరు TMD యొక్క నిజమైన సోదరుడు కాదా?” అని అడిగాడు.

“లేదు! ఈరోజు మీతో జరిగినవిధంగానే ఒక రోజు వీధిలో పనిచేస్కుంటునిన్న నన్ను తను చేరదీసాడు . కానీ అతను నన్ను నిజంగా ఇష్టపడుతున్నాడు, మీకు తెలుసా! అతను ఎప్పుడూ నేను అతనిలాగే ఉంటానని మరియు నేను అతని నిజమైన సోదరుడిని కావాలని అతను కోరుకుంటున్నాడు ” అని అర్జున్ సంతోషంగా సమాధానం చెప్పాడు.

“అతను చాల మంచి వ్యక్తి , అలాంటి అన్నయ్యని పొందడం నీ అదృష్టం” అర్జున్ తల ఊపుతూ ఆ మాటలని అంగీకరించగా మాణిక్యం కొనసాగించాడు, “అయితే మీ కథ ఏమిటి? అతను మిమ్మల్ని ఎక్కడ కనుగొన్నాడు, మరియు మీరు ఇక్కడ ఎలా చేరుకున్నారు? అన్ని ప్రశ్నలకు మళ్ళీ క్షమించండి,” అన్నాడు అర్జున్ వైపు నవ్వుతూ.

అర్జున్ తన అన్న అయినటువంటి టి. ఎం. డి సలహా గుర్తుకు తెచ్చుకుని, “ఎక్కువ మాట్లాడవద్దని, ముందు మీరు విశ్రాంతి తీసుకోమని మా అన్న నన్ను ముందే హెచ్చరించాడు. కాబట్టి, మనం మన సంభాషణను ఆపివేసి, మీరు పడుకోవడం మంచిది అని నేను అనుకుంటున్నాను. ” అని అంటాడు.

“నేను అతనిని కలవడానికి నిజంగా ఆసక్తిగా ఉన్నాను. నేను నిద్రపోగలనని నేను అనుకోను. ” అంటూ మాణిక్యం కొనసాగించాడు , “నేను సుఖంగా ఉన్నాను, నా గురించి చింతించకు”.

“సరే, అయితే చెప్పండి , వర్షంలో ఒంటరిగా ఎందుకు ఏడుస్తున్నారు ? మిమ్మల్ని ఎవరైనా బాధపెట్టారా?” అడిగాడు అర్జున్, అతని స్వరం నిజమైన ఆందోళనతో నిండిపోయింది.

“అంటే మొదట నాకు ఫోన్ చేసింది నువ్వేనా !” అని ఆశ్చర్యంగా అడిగాడు మాణిక్యం.

“అవును! నేను ప్రకృతిని ఆస్వాదిస్తున్నాను ఆ సమయం లో మీరు ఏడవడం గమనించాను, ఇది ప్రస్తుత పరిస్థితికి చాలా వ్యతిరేకంగా అనిపించింది. మనం వర్షం మరియు ప్రకృతిని ఆస్వాదించాలి, కానీ మీరు భిన్నంగా ఉన్నారు, అది నా దృష్టిని ఆకర్షించింది. అని అర్జున్ వివరించాడు.

మాణిక్యం, తనకి కాల్ చేసిన వ్యక్తి ప్రత్యక్ష సహాయానికి రాగలడని తన ఊహను గుర్తుచేసుకుంటూ, వీల్‌చైర్‌లో ఉన్న అర్జున్‌ని చూసి, “నేను ఎంత మూర్ఖుడిని! నన్ను నిజంగా క్షమించు, బాబు ” అని అడుగుతాడు.

“అది సరే! కానీ మీరు నన్ను క్షమాపణ అడగటం ఏమిటి?” మాణిక్యం క్షమాపణ చెప్పడానికి కారణం తెలియక అడిగాడు అర్జున్.

మాణిక్యం అర్జున్‌కి పరిస్థితిని పూర్తిగా అర్థం చేసుకోకుండా ఎలా నిర్ణయాలకు వచ్చాడో వివరించాడు. అర్జున్ అతనికి భరోసా ఇస్తూ , “నీ తప్పు ఏమీ లేదు. నా పరిస్థితి గురించి నీకు తెలియలేదు, మరియు బాధ మన ఆలోచనా శక్తి ని తగ్గిస్తుంది . కాబట్టి, క్షమాపణ చెప్పాల్సిన అవసరం లేదు.” అని మాణిక్యం వైపు తిరిగి ఒక చిరునవ్వు విసిరాడు.

అర్జున్ మాటలు వింటున్న మాణిక్యం హృదయం ఆనందంతో ఉప్పొంగింది. అతని భావోద్వేగాలతో పొంగిపోయి వాటిని ఎలా వ్యక్తపరచాలో తెలియక ఆత్రంగా అర్జున్ దగ్గరకు వెళ్లి గట్టిగా కౌగిలించుకున్నాడు.

కౌగిలింత వెచ్చదనాన్ని అనుభూతి చెందుతూ అర్జున్, “తాతగారు, ప్రశాంతంగా ఉండండి. మీరు కాస్త విశ్రాంతి తీసుకోవాలి” అని మెల్లగా అన్నాడు.

“తాతా!” అన్న మాట వినగానే, మాణిక్యానికి TMD నుండి ఫోన్ కాల్‌లో విన్న అదే స్వరం గుర్తుకు వచ్చింది. అయినప్పటికీ, అతను అర్జున్‌ని ఎదుర్కొనేంత నమ్మకంతో లేడు, కాబట్టి అతను “అవును, బాబు! నేను కొంత సమయం విశ్రాంతి తీసుకోవాలి ” అని సమాధానమిచ్చాడు.

అర్జున్ తన చేతులతో తన వీల్‌ఛైర్‌ని కుడివైపుకి తిప్పుతూ మాణిక్యంని బెడ్‌రూమ్‌కి వెళ్లమని సైగ చేశాడు. వారు అర్జున్ బెడ్‌రూమ్‌లోకి ప్రవేశించగానే, మంచం పక్కన మూడు అడుగుల ఎత్తు వరకు అతికించిన కాగితాలు పేర్చబడిన గోడను చూసి మాణిక్యం ఆశ్చర్యపోయాడు మరియు మంచం పక్కన చాలా పుస్తకాలు ఉన్నాయి, దాని తర్వాత “ది సొసైటీ అఫ్ ది మెన్ ఇన్ డార్క్ ” అనే వెబ్‌సైట్‌ను ప్రదర్శించే భారీ సిస్టమ్ సెటప్ ఉంది.
అర్జున్ గదిలోకి ప్రవేశించిన వెంటనే ఎడమవైపు తీసుకున్నాడు. గది అంతా చాలా ప్రశాంతంగా ఉంది. మూలలో ఒక డ్రాయింగ్ బోర్డు ఉంది, అది ఆకుపచ్చ గుడ్డతో మూసివేయబడింది మరియు బస్ స్టాప్ స్పష్టంగా కనిపించే విదంగా బెడ్‌కు కుడి వైపున భారీ కిటికీ ఉంది. అందులోనుండి బస్టాప్ మాత్రమే కాదు వీధి మొత్తం కనిపిస్తోంది.

అతను మంచం వైపు తిరిగినప్పుడు, మాణిక్యంకి తన కుడి వైపున మరొక పడకగదిని అమర్చడానికి సరిపడే ఒక పెద్ద స్థలం కనపడుతుంది . మరియు గోడ మొత్తం ఫుల్ స్క్రీన్‌తో కప్పబడి ఉండి, సీలింగ్‌కు ప్రొజెక్టర్‌తో మరియు ఆ స్థలం మధ్యలో టీ టేబుల్ ఉంది. టీ టేబుల్ మీద సగం ఆడిన చెస్ బోర్డు ఉండటం గమనించాడు.

ఆ గదిని చూడగానే అతని మనసు పూర్తిగా అయోమయంలో పడింది మరియు అతనికి తెలియకుండానే అతని పాదం మంచం వైపుకు వెళ్ళసాగింది మరియు అతను మంచం మీద పడుకున్నాడు. అతని ఆలోచనలు ఇంట్లో ఇంతవరకు తాను గమనించిన ప్రతిచోటా తిరుగుతూ కొంత స్పష్టత తీసుకురావడానికి ప్రతి వివరాలను సేకరిస్తున్నాయి.

ఆ టి.ఎం.డి అర్జునేనా? అతని వయసు ఎంత? అతను ఎం చేస్తున్నాడు? ఈ గాడి ఒక పిల్లవాడు వుండే గాడి లాగా లేదే ? ఆ టీ టేబుల్ పైన చెస్ గేమ్ సగంలో ఎందుకు వుంది? ఈ ఇంట్లో ఇంకా ఎవరైనా ఉంటున్నారా? అని తనలో తానే ఆలోచించసాగాడు.

ఈ ఆలోచనలు అని తన మెదడు లో తిరుగుతుండగా తాను ఒక మాట కూడా మాట్లాడకుండా నిద్రలోకి జారుకున్నాడు.
